#lockdocs
2020 • 22m
How do children experience the lockdown? For the first time ever, schools were closed because of a virus. How do children deal with this? How does the crisis affect them, what changes do they face and what are they afraid of? Eleven youth documentary makers worked on #lockdocs from March to July – a playful report on the coronavirus crisis, filmed by the Dutch kids themselves. Maiza from Almere worries about her younger brother who has cancer; is Covid-19 extra dangerous for him? Lucia lives in Barcelona, but is stuck in the Spanish countryside where she discovers country life. Mika from Italy misses his mother who, as a doctor working in a hospital, cannot live at home for weeks. In Amsterdam, Tessa’s mother catches the virus and nearly ends up in intensive care. Both serious and lighter subjects come up and we see how everyone is looking forward to the moment the lockdown is finally lifted.
