Don't Shoot the Messenger

2013 • 75m

Don't Shoot the Messenger tells the story of Occupy Amsterdam through the eyes of four very different idealists who share one goal: they want to stir the world into action.

Occupy quickly evolves into a place for concerts, debates and free food for all. The experiment also has a flip side: Occupy attracts the homeless, alcoholics and student pranks. The camp is cleared before Christmas and all signs of the spontaneous protest seem to have been eradicated. The four idealists are also followed post-Occupy in their search for a way to kick-start change. Two years later, the film makers ask themselves: were the activists proven wrong, or do we just not want to hear their story?
