Poncke Princen

Poncke Princen was sent to the former Dutch East Indies as a drafted soldier in 1946. Two years later, he defected to join Sukarno's independence army. Some considered him a traitor, but he saw himself as someone who stood up for the oppressed. Journalist and historian Niels Mathijssen is writing a new biography about the remarkable story of Poncke Princen, while director Luuk Bouwman is simultaneously working on a documentary about the infamous Dutch deserter. A film about right and wrong during war and about the stories we tell about others and ourselves.
